 New Zealand Fur Seal
This seal (Arctocephalus forsteri) occurs from the southern North Island southwards. Hunted to near extinction they have made a strong recovery and are now reasonably common.

 Paradise Shelduck
The Paradise Shelduck (Tadorna variegata) occurs in New Zealand and on offshore islands and is perhaps biologically closer to geese than ducks. Chicks have black and white plumage.

 Yellow-eyed Penguin
The Yellow-eyed Penguin (Megadyptes antipodes) is one of the rarest penguins. It is found in southern New Zealand and on the nearby Subantarctic Islands. Adults are up to 76cm tall.
