Yellow-eyed Penguin

The Yellow-eyed Penguin (Megadyptes antipodes) is one of the rarest penguins. This species is found on the coasts of Canterbury, Otago and Southland, New Zealand and on the nearby Subantarctic Islands. Adults can be up to 76cm tall. The breeding season starts in late August (early spring), with an incubation period of around 43 days. The chicks fledge around at 105 days after hatching.
