ERF Trucks
Stock photos of ERF trucks. Edwin Richard Foden was the youngest son of Edwin Foden, who founded the Foden company in 1856, producing steam-powered vehicles. By the early 1930s it was clear to Edwin Richard Foden that steam was a lost cause and diesel trucks were the coming thing, and he left to form the ER Foden or ERF company. The company's first truck appeared in 1933 and it produced several innovative vehicles over the years but was really only moderately successful. Even so, ERF was able to remain independent until 1996 when it was taken over by Western Star, which in turn sold the company to MAN of Germany in 2000. From 2002 all ERF production was moved to Munich.
