Bedford Trucks
Stock photos of Bedford trucks. The Bedford company developed from 1931 as a British truck producing arm of General Motors, which had been assembling Chevrolet trucks at Hendon and Luton after taking over the Vauxhall company. Bedford's early trucks were moderately successful but they really made their name during World War two, producing trucks for the British and Commonwealth forces. That success continued through the 1950s and 60s but by the 70s Bedford's designs were becoming dated. Hard economic times didn't help and when GM decided to pull out of British truck manufacturing in 1986 Bedford the operation was sold off. A few trucks were manufactured into the 1990s, but while the name still exists no vehicles are being produced.
