Cordyline - Cabbage Tree

Widespread around the Pacific, the genus Cordyline is made up of around 15 species of evergreen woody stemmed tree-like or shrubby perennials related to the agaves. The have heads of long, sword-shaped leaves that are heavily veined and sometimes colourful. In spring and summer they produce very showy heads of white or cream flowers that are followed by small berries. The hardy species are popular garden plants, while those from the tropics are most often seen as house plants.
