Betula - Birch
A page of stock pictures of birches (genus Betula). Birches are Northern Hemisphere deciduous trees and shrubs most often found in fairly cool areas, extending into the Arctic. There are around 60 species and most have peeling bark, which is often silvery white. The leaves tend to be pointed oval in shape, usually with shallow teeth. Flower catkins develop in late winter and then break up, shedding huge quantities of fine seeds, Birches are valued for their graceful habit, attractive bark and vivid golden yellow autumn colour.
