Ruggles and Parsons Tractors
Stock photos of Ruggles and Parsons tractors. This short-lived machine was produced for just over 2 years and was known for its 'Track Laying Double Traction' wheels, which used a system of springs and rollers that pushed steel plates on the solid wheels into the ground to ensure good traction. The machines were built by the Republic Truck Company of Alma, Michigan, USA amd the name came from the company's directors: Frank Ruggles and CW Parsons. A shipment of 18 of these tractors arrived in New Zealand in 1919 and amazingly three of these still survive and have been restored to full operability, apparently the only working Ruggles and Parsons in existence.
