Hart Parr Tractors
A page of stock pictures of Hart Parr tractors. The Hart Parr company began in 1902 when friends Charles Hart and Charles Parr made their first tractor, appropriately enough in Charles City, Iowa. In a move designed to improve their tractors' serviceability in very cold winters, their motors were cooled by oil rather than water and early Hart Parr tractors had a distinctive oil cooling tower, giving them a look more like a traction engine than a modern tractor. The original 22-45 (later rated 30-60) forged a reputation for reliability, though its 10 ton weight and 300 rpm engine meant it was no speedster. The post World War One tractors were more conventional in design. Hart Parr was one of the first American manufacturers to cater to Southern Hemisphere farmers, producing several "Australian Special" and "New Zealand Special" models. Hart Parr was acquired by Oliver in 1929.
