Toronia - Toru
Stock photos of Toru (Toronia toru), a large evergreen shrub or small tree native to New Zealand. Formerly included in the genus Persoonia, it is now the sole species in its own genus and is one of just tow species of the protea family (Proteaceae) native to New Zealand, the other being Knightia excelsa. It has simple, narrow, leathery leaves and in spring to early summer produces heads of small, nectar-rich golden flowers. It is an undemanding plant that while quite easily grown is not widely cultivated.
