Arthur's Pass
Arthur's Pass is the main pass through the Southern Alps connecting the east and west coasts of New Zealand's South Island. The township of Arthur's Pass is located in an alpine valley and a large part of the surrounding area is a national park. Close to the township are beautiful walkways, many waterfalls, rugged rivers and majestic mountains. Although spectacularly beautiful, the area is prone to sudden weather changes and many visitors who have pushed their luck too far have died in the mountains.
