Ethelton 4WD Rally
In mid-May 2007 a rally was organised to raise funds for the St Andrew's College First XV rugby team. Running through several properties near Ethelton in North Canterbury, the rally took in some spectacular scenery. Other than some tricky tracks it also involved a couple of additional challenges for the participants. Drivers were issued with a description of the trek and the properties it crossed as well as a numbered stone that was to be tossed into a wool sack during the journey. All those who hit the target went into a prize draw. There was also a kit composed of small sticks, straws, string, rubber bands and a numbered egg. The idea being to suspend the egg from the driver's wing mirror in a cradle made from the other pieces of the kit. All the eggs that survived until the lunch break would go into a prize draw.
