Coast to Coast Race
The Speights Coast to Coast Race is run each year between Kumara Beach on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island and Sumner Beach in the east. The course is 243km long and the competitors are required to run, cycle and kayak various sections. The event is in two divisions: the two-day race and the one-day race. These shots were taken at the 2006 event at the Mt. White Bridge Transition, where competitors get into kayaks and paddle along the Waimakiriri River to the gorge, from where they cycle to Sumner Beach.
