Lobelia

Lobelia is a genus of 370 species of annuals, perennials and shrubs that is widely distributed in temperate regions, particularly the Americas and Africa. Growth habits vary from low bedding plants to tall herbaceous perennials or shrubs. They are all grown for their ornamental flowers and neat foliage and make excellent edging, flower box, hanging basket and rock-garden specimens. The flower colour varies considerably, though blue, purple, mauve and red are common.
