Centaurea
Stock photos of plants of the genus Centaurea (Cornflower), which is made up of over 400 species of annuals, perennials and subshrubs. They are mostly native to the Mediterranean region but also extend into Europe, Eurasia and North America. The genus is renowned for the bright blue flowers of the annual or biennial cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) but cultivars of this species and other species extend the flower colour range into the pink, mauve, purple and red shades as well as yellow and white. Many of the smaller species make excellent rockery plants while the larger growers perform well in perennial borders.
