Bergenia
Stock photos of plants of the genus Bergenia, which is made up of 8 species of East Asian rhizomatous perennials that are usually semi-evergreen. They have large, strongly veined leaves that may develop red tints in winter. In late winter and early spring they develop erect flower stems bearing heads of small flowers in various shades of pink or white. The name pigsqueak comes either from the reaction of pigs on unearthing the rhizomes or from the sound of a thumb rubbed across the wet foliage.
