Astelia
Stock photos of plants of the genus Astelia, which is composed of around 25 species of evergreen perennials found in Australia, New Zealand (including the Chatham Islands), the Falklands, Reunion and parts of Polynesia. They are strappy to spear-leaved, sometimes with a metallic silver sheen and produce short, branching, woody flower spikes that are followed by massed berries. The New Zealand species Astelia chathamica and Astelia nervosa are the most widely cultivate and are valued for their stiff, architectural form that is reminiscent of New Zealand flax (Phormium) but different enough to attract attention.
