An introductory page to our selection of horticultural and botanical stock pictures of palms (plants of the family Palmae), shown mostly in garden settings. Palms always give a garden a tropical air and are among the most graceful plants. Many are also surprisingly hardy. Palms are described as being "feather" or "fan" depending on the arrangement of the leaflets of their fronds. In addition to their foliage, many also offer attractive flowers and sometimes the fruit that follows is edible, most notably in the case of the date palms. The most photographed genera, such as Phoenix, are listed as subcategories on their own pages, while genera of which we have only a few images are listed in the Other Palms category.
