Osmunda - Royal Fern, Flowering Fern
Stock photos of Royal Ferns (the genus Osmunda), a group of around 12 species of evergreen or deciduous terrestrial ferns found in the tropics and subtropics and extending into the temperate zones in East Asia and the Americas. They have a sturdy rhizome, form which emerge strong-stemmed, erect fronds. They are sometimes known as flowering ferns because of the clusters of fertile pinnules that can form near the stems tips, resembling flowerheads. The old fronds and rhizomes are sometimes ground up, composted and used in potting mixes.
