Pyramid Valley
This is a page of stock pictures of Pyramid Valley, North Canterbury, New Zealand. Pyramid Valley has been the richest source of the remains of moas, which were genera (Dinornis and Emeus) of very large flightless birds that are now extinct. In addition to the four moa species found in the swamp, some 50 other animal species' remains have been found there, including those of tuatara (Sphenodon). In common with much of the Waikari and Weka Pass region, the valley is home to many limestone formations, including some of the most accessible. The soft limestone is easily weathered by wind, rain and frost and develops into a range of intriguing shapes.
