 Iris Species
Among the over 300 Iris species there are plants for all types of garden situation. With a good selection it is possible to have irises in flower from early winter to late summer, growing in conditions from woodland to full sun.

 Bearded Irises
Bearded irises fall into three broad height categories: dwarf, intermediate and tall. The smaller the iris, the earlier it flowers. Dwarf forms begin fairly early in spring while the tallest forms flower as late as early summer.

 Japanese Irises
Japanese irises are cultivars or hybrids of Iris ensata and are known as "bog" irises as they can be grown in shallow water. The most impressive is the Higo strain, which produces huge flowers on stems that may be over 1.5m high.

 Siberian Irises
Siberian irises are a very adaptable and variable group. They will grow in most soils and will get by with just a few hours sun per day. As the name suggests, they are not worried by winter cold.
