Japanese Irises
A page of stock pictures of Japanese irises. The Japanese irises are cultivars or hybrids of Iris ensata and fall into the general group of “bog” irises as they can be grown in shallow water. The most impressive are those of the Higo strain. These plants produce huge (though short lived) flowers that have a delicacy of hue and tone that gives them an airbrushed appearance. Add to this the fact that they are carried on stems that may be over 1.5m high makes them look for all the world like the most beautiful hand painted saucers atop bamboo poles.
