Gloxinia
Stock photos of plants of the genus Gloxinia, which is a member of the African Violet family (Gesneriaceae) and is made up of some 8 species of evergreen perennials and subshrubs native to Central and tropical South America. In cultivation Gloxinia is often confused with another gesneriad genus, Sinningia. The plants commonly known as gloxinias, with large bell-shaped flower and velvety leaves, are actually members of Sinningia. True gloxinias have fairly simple paired leaves that are sometimes downy and their flowers tend to be tubular to funnel-shaped. In temperate climates they are grown as house plants.
