Alocasia
Stock photos of plants of the genus Alocasia (Elephant's Ear). As the common name suggests, the 70-odd species of tuberous or rhizomatous perennials in this tropical arum family (Araceae) Asian genus tend to have very large leaves. The leaves are heavily veined and many are interestingly coloured or marked. The arum-like flowers can be attractive and may be followed by colourful fruits. In tropical to frost-free warm temperate areas they are grown in gardens, often around ponds, and elsewhere they are grown as house or greenhouse plants.
