Llamas and Alpacas
A page of stock pictures of llamas (Lama glama) and alpacas (Vicugna pacos). Along with the vicuna (Vicugna vicugna) and guanaco Lama guanicoe), these camelids are native to the Andes of South America and are now farmed for their very fine fleece. In its native lands the llama is also used as a pack animal and for meat. While a fully grown llama can be up to 1.8m tall (at the top of the head) and up to 200kg in weight, alpacas rarely exceed 1.5m and are far more slightly built, weighing around 65-80kg.
