Deer and Elk
A page of stock pictures of farmed deer and elk. These images were taken in New Zealand, where deer were introduced in the 19th century as game animals. Their populations soon expanded to the point that they became a serious threat to the native vegetation. In the 1970s wild deer were captured, mainly by helicopter mustering, to create domestic herds to provide venison and for velvet harvesting. However, even today, after several decades of farming these animals are not really domesticated and probably never will be.
