Eomecon - Snow Poppy
Stock photos of Snow Poppy (Eomecon chionantha), a genus of just one species, a rhizomatous perennial of the poppy family (Papaveraceae) native to eastern China. It is a woodland plant that prefers to grow in dappled shade where it forms a carpet of rounded, shallowly lobed, mid-green leaves held flat atop petioles that are up to 30cm long. Small, white, 4-petalled flowers are carried singly on stems just slightly higher than the foliage. This is a charming, if unspectacular plant for naturalising under deciduous trees.
