Discaria - Matagouri
Stock photos of Matagouri (plants of the genus Discaria), a group of around a dozen species of deciduous or semi-evergreen shrubs found in Australia, New Zealand and temperate South America. They are well armed with long thorns that often extend beyond the small leathery leaves. Their clusters of cream flowers are tiny but can be sweetly scented and usually appear in late spring to early summer. These plants are rarely cultivated, and indeed can be so unpleasant to deal with that they may be considered weeds, even in their native lands.
