Dahlia Hybrids
Dahlia is a daisy family (Asteraceae) genus of around 30 species of tuberous perennials found from Mexico to Colombia. The genus is named after Dr. Andreas Dahl (1751–1789), a Swedish botanist and includes plants ranging from 30cm tall bedding types to those like Dahlia imperialis that can grow from nothing to 6m tall in one season. Almost all dahlias have pinnate foliage, hollow cane-like stems and bright flowerheads. Garden dahlia hybrids are classified into ten groups based on their flower forms.
