Beans and Peas
Beans and peas, also known as legumes or pulses, are important food crops worldwide. They are a vital source of protein in areas where meat and dairy products are not readily available. Some can also be ground in flour-like meal and perform some of the functions of cereal crops. Some beans are grown for the beans or peas themselves, the edible seeds, other for the pods and some for both. Beans can be low spreading plants, shrubby or climbing and may be annual or perennial.
