Wagyu Cattle
This is a page of stock pictures of Wagyu cattle. Also known as the Mishima or Japanese Black, the Wagyu is a Japanese breed prized for its prime quality, highly marbled meat. It was developed from native Japanese cattle that may have originated in the Mongolian/Siberian region. It was crossed with European breeds in the late 19th century, but was then closed to other bloodlines for around 100 years. In recent times Wagyu have been raised outside Japan and further crossing, primarily with Angus has occurred. The Wagyu is generally similar to the Angus but is considerably smaller when mature and often has a stronger hint of red-brown in its primarily black colouration.
