Carpinus - Hornbeam
Stock photos of Hornbeam (plants of the genus Carpinus), a group of around 35 species of deciduous trees found mainly in the northern temperate zones. Members of the birch family (Betulaceae), or sometimes placed in a family of their own, the Carpinaceae, they are broad-crowned trees with heavily veined leaves that have smooth or serrated edges. As with the birches, their flowers are borne in catkins and these appear with the developing foliage. In autumn the leaves sometimes develop warm orange tones, though just as often they brown without developing much colour.
