Cantua - Sacred Flower of the Incas
Stock photos of Sacred Flower of the Incas (plants of the genus Cantua), a group of 6 species of long-flowering evergreen shrubs native to western South America. The commonly grown species are Cantua buxifolia, which has long, tubular pink flowers, often in abundance, and Cantua bicolor, which has yellow, pink and white flowers. Occasionally chimera will occur. A chimera is an organism that displays two distinct sets of DNA in one organism. This can sometimes happen as the result of grafting or it may be natural. One of the most common natural examples is when a bush displays the deep pink flowers of Cantua buxifolia with the yellow and white flowers of Cantua bicolor. The foliage also differs appropriately with the flower types. These are not the neatest of bushes but make up for it with their beautiful flowers and they can be kept trimmed.
