Other Cultivars and Hybrids
Camellia is an Asian genus found mainly in the warm temperate areas. It includes some 300 species as well as countless garden hybrids and cultivars. The garden plants are classified according to their parent species and the most common types are the japonica, reticulata, sasanqua and hiemalis cultivars, which are listed in their own categories. There are also a number of miscellaneous hybrids, which are listed here. The most extensively cultivated camellia, Camellia sinensis, is not grown for its flowers but for its leaves, which are the source of commercial tea crops.
