Allium - Onion
Allium is a Northern Hemisphere genus made up of around 700 species of perennial and biennial bulbs. In addition to the well known vegetables, such as onions, chives, garlic and leeks, there are many ornamental species and cultivars that are widely cultivated in gardens. A few species, like Allium triquetrum can be invasive and may become local weeds. For other alliums see the Onion Family subcategory under Field Crops and the Weeds category pages.
