St. David's Church
Saint David's Church at Cannington, near Cave, South Canterbury, New Zealand was commissioned by the Burnett family and opened in 1930. The church is built from uncut boulders and has a totara floor and pews hewn from southern beech. No nails were used in the timber work. The main entrance at the right contains a slab inscribed: "This porch is erected to the Glory of God and in memory of the sheepmen, shepherds, bullock drivers, shearers, and station hands who pioneered the back country of this province between the years 1855 and 1895." The church earned its architect, Herbert H. Hall, the New Zealand Institute of Architects' Gold Medal in 1934.
