Okains Bay Buildings
One of the earliest European settlements on Banks Peninsula, New Zealand, Okains Bay was also one of the main sites for Waitangi Day events. Several of the early buildings are still standing and there is a thriving museum that helps to preserve the local history. Situated at the end of a long valley, the bay has an attractive beach from which several other bays can be reached by walking tracks over the hills.
