A selection of stock pictures of buildings in Christchurch, New Zealand. The city and surrounding districts have a population of around 500,000 people and the city was founded in the mid 19th century, principally by English settlers. Many of the early buildings reflect the Gothic revival that was popular at that time. In the 20th century many of the early timber buildings made way for modern constructions, but the early buildings that were made of more permanent materials have been largely preserved.
