Azara
Azara is a temperate South American genus of some 10 species of evergreen shrubs and trees. The have rounded, toothed leaves that are usually leathery and sometimes quite glossy. Spikes or corymbs of small yellow-green to bright yellow flowers, often fragrant, open mainly in spring and early summer. Fleshy yellow, violet, blue, red or black fruits follow the flowers. The best known species is the Vanilla Tree (Azara microphylla), which has tiny leaves and flowers but which emits a powerful vanilla scent when in bloom.
