Athyrium - Lady Fern
Stock photos of Lady Fern (plants of the genus Athyrium), a group of around 100 species of terrestrial and rock-dwelling ferns that have a wide distribution in the temperate and tropical regions, mainly in the Northern Hemisphere. Most have spreading rhizomes and pinnate fronds. The fronds may change colour as they matures and some are interestingly marked or variegated. One species, the Common Lady Fern (Athyrium filix-femina), in inclined to produce unusual growth forms, such as cristate or bifurcate fronds. These forms were widely collected in Victorian times and sparked off something of a fern craze in the 19th century.
