Aspidistra
Stock photos of plants of the genus Aspidistra, which is made up of 8 species of evergreen perennials found from the Himalayas to Japan. They have elongated, sometimes heavily veined leaves and sprays of small brown flowers that may be partly hidden by the foliage. The genus is best know for the Cast Iron Plant (Aspidistra elatior), which became a very popular house plant in Victorian times due to its ability to survive in the cool, dark and draughty homes of that period. It is still quite widely cultivated as an indoor plant but will also grow outdoors in mild temperate areas and is able to tolerate moderate frosts.
