Often massed in large borders or grown in pots or tubs for instant colour, annuals have long been the focus of intensive plant breeding. As a result many of the more widely grown types, such as marigolds and petunias, now occur in a myriad of forms and flower colours. Genera of which we have 3 or more photos are listed on their own image category pages as shown below. Genera of which we have only a few images are listed in the Other Annuals category. Genera that include both annuals and perennials, such as Papaver may be listed separately from the annuals section under Garden Pictures.
