Ailanthus - Tree of Heaven
Stock photos of Tree of Heaven (plants of the genus Ailanthus), a group of 5 species of large deciduous or evergreen trees found from northern China to Australia. The genus is best know for the Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima), a very quick-growing, suckering, 30m tall, deciduous species from northern China. It is a tree that is usually planted because its bold imparipinnate foliage is very attractive, but then regretted because its grows out of control and sends up suckers several metres from the main trunk. In summer it produces panicles of greenish white flowers. These are unpleasantly scented but usually high enough in the tree that this is not noticeable. The flowers are followed by pinkish-green to red-brown fruit.
