Acacia - Wattle
This a page of stock pictures of wattles (genus Acacia). A genus of over 1,300 species of trees and shrubs from warm climates, with around 1000 species indigenous to Australia. Acacias have either bipinnate leaves or flattened leaf-like stalks, or phyllodes, which perform the function of photosynthesis. The tiny flowers, ranging from deep golden yellow to cream or white, and crowded into globular heads or cylindrical spikes and are often fragrant. Fruit are either round or flattened pods. Note: some botanists classify the Australian species as a distinct genus, Racosperma.
