Picture: Probably the premiere axemen's event, tree felling requires the competitors to cut notches in the trunk to support boards that they then stand on to reach the block at the top of the 'tree'. The contestants go up one side of the tree, cut half way through the block, and then go up the other side of the tree and finish the job. The event is run on a handicap system and in this instance the highest ranked axeman started 156 seconds after the first man to go, yet still finished ahead of him.
