Stock Photo: 1912 Robey & Co. Image ID CFG6740

Picture: Detail of part of the valve system of a 1912 Robey & Co. 8hp traction engine. Although they are now perhaps one of the less well-known manufacturers, Robey and Co., based in Lincoln, England, also produced many stationary engines, locomotives, farm machinery and steam rollers. They were known for producing a two cylinder engine with a smaller upper cylinder for high speed operation. With the decline of steam the firm moved into diesel and electrical engineering but went out of business in 1972.
