Camellia 'Lady Clare' (syn. 'Akashigata'), an old Japanese Japonica cultivar that was imported to the United Kingdom in 1877 where it was renamed 'Lady Clare'. It is early-blooming with large flowers that often show flecks of white to pale pink and which may have the occasional petaloid stamen. The bush has a lax, somewhat weeping habit.
