A Romney Cross ewe and lamb enjoying the late afternoon sun in a field of tussock on the Port Hills above Christchurch, New Zealand. The New Zealand Romney is a development of the British Romney Marsh, which first arrived in NZ in 1853. It is a tough, adaptable, self-sufficient breed with good meat and fleece production.
