Picture: Basket Fungus or Lattice Fungus (Ileodictyon cibarius), a common New Zealand fungus in which the receptacle forms a netted, basketlike ball that often eventually breaks free from the soil. The olive-brown deposit withing the basket is the spore mass. This fungus usually appears from early winter and resists light frosts.
