Climbing Asparagus Fern (Asparagus setaceus [syns. Asparagus plumosus, Protoasparagus plumosus]), a sprawling, scrambling, evergreen, rhizome-rooted perennial from southern and eastern Africa. The young stems twine somewhat and also have small, sharp, recurved thorns that aid climbing. It is often cultivated as a house plant but has become an invasive weed in some areas.
