Stock Photo: 13 Pied Cormorant on Coastal RockImage ID CFG3831

Picture: A Pied Cormorant or Shag (Phalacrocorax varius) on one of the many rock ledges that are common around Banks Peninsula, New Zealand. These are the remnants of lava flows that cooled as they entered the sea. Often much harder than the other rock and debris that surrounded them, they remain while the softer material has eroded or been washed away.
